About OnlineUniversity.review

Choosing an online degree is a big investment of time and money, yet most "best online college" lists are paid placements. We built OnlineUniversity.review to be different: independent profiles of every US institution that offers online programs, paired with reviews from the students who actually took the classes.

Where our data comes from

School profiles are built from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), the federal survey every college that participates in federal student aid must complete. We use it to identify which institutions offer distance education, which are fully online, how many students study exclusively online, published tuition, and which programs can be completed entirely online.

Schools that do not report any online programs are not listed. We refresh our data as the National Center for Education Statistics releases new collection years.

How reviews work

Anyone with a verified email address can review a school. Every review is read by our staff before it is published. We remove reviews that are spam, promotional, abusive or written by someone without first-hand experience. We never edit a review's rating, and schools cannot pay to remove reviews.
